The Niji script

The Niji script is a proposed new script for writing Japanese. It is my attempt at applying the ideas underlying the Korean Hangeul script to the Japanese language.

The following documents provide a comprehensive description of the script:

• Niji, Hiragana, and Katakana maps core syllables between these three more-or-less phonemic scripts for Japanese.
• Niji sample: Universal Declaration of Human Rights contains the preamble of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Japanese, written in the Niji script.
• Niji in Unicode specifies the encoding of the Niji script within the Unicode Private Use Area and serves as the basis of its registration in the Under-ConScript Unicode Registry.
